Businesses and individuals: 3 months to update official exchange rates or deviation risks

The Bank of Spain's resolution publishes the euro exchange rates from 3 July 2026 set by the ECB, now officially effective (Art. 36 of Law 46/1998). These rates replace previous ones and must be used in financial transactions, contracts, and official communications. The change affects all users of exchange rates in Spain, particularly in international operations.

In 2 key points

  1. The official exchange rates are updated on 3 July 2026 and come into effect immediately (Art. 36 Law 46/1998) (art. 36 Ley 46/1998)
  2. 1 euro = 1.1448 US dollars (official rate from 3 July 2026) (cambio 1 euro = 1,1448 dólares USA)

How it affects those involved

Business operators and individuals carrying out international transactions must update their financial calculations with the new exchange rates to avoid errors in pricing, payments or costs. Financial institutions must incorporate the new rates into their calculation systems. Financial advisers must inform their clients of the changes. There are no changes to the legal regime, but updates to data in actual transactions are required.
