The new material pertains to the species Quercus suber within the Extremadura territory, specifically in the Sierra de San Pedro area (Badajoz). This resolution amends the National Catalogue of Base Materials to publish the authorisation communicated by the Government of Extremadura.

In 2 key points

  1. Inclusion of Quercus suber (cork) from Sierra de San Pedro, Badajoz, as base material (Resolución de 7 de mayo de 2026)
  2. The incorporation is carried out in accordance with Article 7.2 of Royal Decree 289/2003 (art. 7.2 RD 289/2003)

How it affects those involved

For producers of 'selected' category forest reproductive material (FRM), a new source of base material (Quercus suber) from Sierra de San Pedro, Badajoz, is now available for cork production (Art. 7.2 RD 289/2003).
