Reinvestment exemption unavailable if property ceased to be main residence more than two years before transfer

A taxpayer inquired whether they could apply the reinvestment exemption for a main residence after receiving financial compensation following the dissolution of a co-ownership. The DGT ruled that this is not possible because the property ceased to be their main residence in 2010, failing to meet the requirement that the property must have been the main residence during the two years immediately preceding the transfer.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
