Municipalities and provincial councils: 10 months to submit damage compensation claims from DANA

The TMD/1586/2025 Order modifies TMD/101/2025 to extend the submission period for damage compensation claims from the DANA event. The period is now set at 10 months from January 10, 2026, instead of the previous 6 months. This change allows local entities greater time and flexibility to submit claims, in line with Article 5 of Royal Decree-Law 6/2024.

In 2 key points

  1. Submission deadline extended to 10 months from 10 January 2026 (art. 1.1)
  2. Added sub-paragraphs 5 bis and 11 bis to clarify application conditions (art. 1.2)

How it affects those involved

Municipalities and provincial councils gain an additional timeframe to submit applications, reducing the risk of missing opportunities due to time constraints. Local administrations can better organise their application processes. Council advisors should update their submission plans and ensure applications are submitted within the new deadline. The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory maintains the regulatory framework for direct grant awards.
