Olive oil mills: obligation to withdraw 12% of monthly production for the 2026/2027 campaign

The Directorate-General for Agricultural Production and Markets has determined that the threshold for the mandatory withdrawal of olive oil has been reached for the 2026/2027 campaign (Art. 4 of Order APA/1145/2026). Consequently, it is established that each olive oil mill must keep 12% of its declared monthly production in storage (second). This measure applies to production declared from November 2026 onwards (third).

In 3 key points

  1. Obligation to store 12% of declared monthly production in owned or third-party facilities, second. (segundo)
  2. The withdrawal percentage applies to production from November 2026, excluding October or previous months, third. (tercero)
  3. The withdrawn oil must remain off the market until 30 September 2027, fourth. (cuarto)

How it affects those involved

Olive oil mills and sector operators must adjust their storage and marketing capacity, as they are required to withdraw 12% of their monthly production (second). The withdrawn product must remain off the market until 30 September 2027 (fourth). Operators must ensure the availability of information and documentation certifying both the quantity withdrawn and the storage facilities used (fifth).
