The Bank of Spain resolution publishes the new euro exchange rates effective 30 January 2026, approved by the European Central Bank, now officially recognized under Article 36 of Law 46/1998 (cite: art. 36). These rates affect all foreign exchange operations in Spain and abroad and must be used as official reference in contracts, payments, and exchange rates.

In 2 key points

  1. 1 euro = 1.1919 US dollars from 30/01/2026 (cambios del euro)
  2. Exchange rates are official pursuant to Article 36 of Law 46/1998 (art. 36)

How it affects those involved

Business operators, individuals and public administrations carrying out foreign exchange transactions must update their calculations and contracts with the new official exchange rates. Traders and financial services providers are at risk of errors if they continue to use outdated rates. Advisors must inform their clients of these changes to prevent pricing or payment discrepancies. Multinational companies must review their cost and profit calculation systems.
