Major textile and footwear chains: application of new national collective agreement valid until December 2028

The first national collective agreement for large commercial chains in the textile and footwear sector has been registered and published, signed by the Spanish Textile Retail Association (ARTE) and trade unions (CC.OO. Servicios and FETICO). The agreement applies to companies with more than 400 employees that meet specific floor space or territorial presence requirements (Art. 1). Its general validity extends until 31 December 2028 (Art. 4).

In 3 key points

  1. Applicable to companies with more than 400 employees and over 3,500 m² of sales space or presence in 3 autonomous communities, Art. 1.1 (art. 1.1)
  2. Agreement validity until 31 December 2028, Art. 4 (art. 4)
  3. Extension to business groups that meet the requirements collectively, Art. 1.2 (art. 1.2)

How it affects those involved

For large companies in the textile and footwear sector with more than 400 employees, this agreement establishes the applicable working conditions, provided they exceed 3,500 m² of national sales floor space or operate in at least three autonomous communities (Art. 1). Companies that are part of a business group meeting these thresholds are also subject to the agreement (Art. 1.2). Senior management personnel are excluded from its scope of application (Art. 3).
