Companies and tech centres: 3 months to apply for state innovation grants

Royal Decree CNU/671/2026 sets out rules for funding under the 2024-2027 State Research and Innovation Plan, managed by the State Research Agency. It enables greater transparency and access to funding for tech centres, companies and associations, under Article 17.1 of Law 38/2003.

In 2 key points

  1. Applications for funding must be submitted to technology centres (art. 17.1)
  2. 30-day natural period for submitting applications (art. 17.1)

How it affects those involved

Firms must submit research applications to technology centres, not administrative offices. A 30-day deadline from publication requires prompt action. Technology centres and universities manage submissions, potentially speeding up evaluation. Funding access depends on the availability of these centres in each region.
