Drivers over 65 can claim reinvestment exemption when transferring taxi licence

The DGT confirms that taxi drivers over 65 can claim the reinvestment exemption if the amount is used to establish a life annuity within six months.

The question raised

Whether the new exemption for reinvestment established by Law 26/2014, of November 27, would be applicable to individuals over 65 years of age.

The DGT's ruling

Capital gains from the transfer of assets by individuals over 65 years of age may be exempt from taxation if the amount obtained is used, within six months, to establish an insured life annuity in their favor. The maximum limit for this establishment is 240,000 euros. In the case of auto-taxi licenses, this exemption may be applied if the legal requirements are met.
