Deduction for investment in main residence may be maintained after marriage

A taxpayer has enquired whether they can continue to claim the deduction for the purchase of their main residence made before 2013 after getting married and living in different properties from their spouse. The Directorate General for Taxes (DGT) has ruled that the deduction can be maintained provided the property remains their habitual residence.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
