Subsidies for property works are declared as capital gains in the year they are collected

A query is made regarding when an individual must pay tax on a subsidy received for renovation works on a property. The DGT responds that the aid constitutes a capital gain and must be attributed to the tax period in which the collection is received.

The question raised

Temporal imputation of the subsidy.

The DGT's ruling

The receipt of direct aid for works involving roof changes, carpentry, or facades constitutes a capital gain due to the variation in the value of the assets. Unless specific exemption scenarios or special imputation rules by quarters are met, the gain must be attributed to the tax period in which its collection takes place.
