The acquisition value of a share received upon account opening is its market value

A taxpayer has enquired about the acquisition value of a share received as part of the opening of a current account. The DGT has ruled that the delivery of the share constitutes income from movable capital in kind, and its acquisition value shall be its market value.

The question raised

For the purposes of a future transfer of the share received from the Bank, the question is raised as to what its acquisition value is.

The DGT's ruling

The delivery of a share in exchange for the opening of a bank account is considered income from movable capital in kind. The acquisition value of said share for a future transfer shall be its normal market value at the time of acquisition. In this specific case, the acquisition value is 5.28 euros, as the income tax has been passed on to the taxpayer.
