Back pay is taxed in the tax year the court ruling becomes final

A worker sought clarification on the taxation of back pay following the annulment of their dismissal and the treatment of returned unemployment benefits. The DGT indicates that this back pay must be declared when the court ruling becomes final, and that returned benefits must be excluded from tax returns where they were previously included incorrectly.

The question raised

The DGT's ruling
