Mediterranean trawler fleet awarded 2,454 extra fishing days for using wing doors

The General Directorate of Fisheries has allocated 2,454 additional fishing days for the Mediterranean bottom trawling fleet in 2026 (First). These days represent 3% of the days allocated to Spain and have been distributed among 301 vessels that submitted a responsible declaration committing to using wing doors or semi-pelagic devices to reduce seabed contact (First). The allocation follows the end of the application period on 5 July 2026.
