Biography
Laura Fernandez Vega leads BMC’s business services division with twelve years of experience in financial auditing and management consulting. She began her career at an independent audit firm, where she trained in financial statement analysis, internal controls, and annual accounts preparation for mid-sized companies. That foundation gave her solid technical grounding which, over time, evolved towards strategic financial advisory — the point where numbers and business decisions converge.
Her role as division director spans everything from full accounting outsourcing to the design and implementation of management control systems for companies that need a clearer picture of their profitability, liquidity, and budget variances. She has implemented financial dashboards for over 80 companies, with particular focus on those in rapid growth phases that require more sophisticated reporting structures than their internal administration teams typically provide. In each case the starting point is understanding how management actually makes decisions, then building the reporting architecture around those needs — rather than delivering a generic set of KPIs that no one ends up using.
One area where Laura delivers distinctive value is the outsourced CFO service for startups and mid-market companies that cannot justify a full-time finance director but need that high-level financial perspective. In this role she has supported founders and executive teams through fundraising preparation, engagement with investors and banking institutions, and the construction of cash flow models and medium-term financial planning frameworks.
On the technology side, Laura has led several digital accounting transformation projects, including ERP implementations and the automation of monthly close and consolidation processes. She works regularly with cloud-based accounting platforms, management reporting tools, and business intelligence dashboards, helping clients move away from spreadsheet-dependent processes towards real-time financial visibility. Her command of Portuguese also allows her to support companies with operations in Portuguese-speaking markets, where differences in accounting regulation and reporting standards require specific knowledge that few generalist teams are equipped to provide.
