New Statutes for the Spanish Surfing Federation published by the CSD

The Presidency of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) has published the new Statutes of the Spanish Surfing Federation (FES), repealing those published in 2019. The FES is a non-profit private law entity of public utility, responsible for promoting and organising surfing and its specialities in Spain (Art. 1.1). The regulation establishes the framework for the integration of regional federations and the international affiliation of the entity (Art. 2 and 10).

In 3 key points

  1. The FES integrates specialities such as Surf, Longboard, Bodyboard, StandUp Paddle and Parasurfing (Art. 1.2). (art. 1.2)
  2. The integration of regional federations requires an agreement and ratification by the CSD (Art. 10.4.d). (art. 10.4.d)
  3. Repeals the Statutes published by the Resolution of 7 June 2019 (BOE index ref). (ref. indice BOE)

How it affects those involved

For regional surfing federations, the regulation stipulates that integration into the FES must be carried out through a single agreement and written request, recognising the FES statutes as part of their legal framework (Art. 10.4). The FES assumes responsibility for ensuring gender equality and the removal of architectural barriers in its facilities (Art. 1.4 and 3.1). Decisions regarding the integration or separation of regional federations require prior ratification by the CSD (Art. 10.4.d).
